Saying the rosary prayer is being linked to having a healthy heart.
Scientists in Italy claim people who recite the prayer or even a yoga mantra improve the function of their heart and lungs.
They measured the breathing rates of 23 people during the recitals and the effect on the heart's rhythm.
Luciano Bernardi, of the University of Pavia, found normal talking reduced the breathing rate irregularly.
However the prayer, the mantra and controlled breathing slowed breaths to around six per minute, reports the British Medical Journal.
