Ronald J. Gibbs was the director of the Center for Colloidal Science at the University of Delaware between 1981 and May, 2000. He has published over 85 reviewed journal articles and five technical reports, edited fourteen books and presented over 60 talks at national and international meetings. His research and teaching dealt with a wide variety of topics involving colloidal materials covering how to analyze them, what they are composed of, and what happens to them in nature. A related specialty involved studies of metals associated with colloidal particles, their toxicity and benefits to man. Dr. Gibbs' interest in colloidal silver arose from observing an abundance of incorrect and misleading opinions in advertising and related literature coupled with the lack of correct and useful information.
