The sleeping giant awakens

In the present, good news is as rare as an honest politician or a spin-free story from CNN. The best news I know today is that American seems to be coming out of a year-long coma. We the people are slowly waking from what appears to be mass hypnosis. This is happening despite mainstream media's myopic and one sided coverage of local, national and world news. It is happening despite our being manipulated by levels of multimedia propaganda not seen since the Nazi's push for global conquest.

In this country where we have prided ourselves upon freedom of speech, where the Constitution ensures this as law, the mainstream press has continually failed to present opposing sides of pertinent issues. Instead we are fed a continuous mass of manipulative propaganda designed to control our thoughts, beliefs and decision making processes, to support an administration seemingly bent on war. But we are waking up anyway.

In the past twelve months as we have slept, terrible things have been done in our good names. Our leaders have lied, cheated, stolen and killed to further their thinly veiled agenda of building a New World Order. While he waves the stars and stripes, marshaling patriotism and building the war machine, our court-appointed president is busy dismantling America to be replaced as part of a globalist regime. By 2005 this transformation would be complete and the America that we loved and fought for will be gone. Without our opposition, it will become the North American Union. Our American dream has turned into a nightmare. We must wake up!

As we slept, our constitutional rights were shredded by the oxymoronic 'Patriot Act,' This was passed without being read by our impotent Congress. U.S. citizens have been imprisoned without due process. Freedom of speech has being trashed. Writers and journalists have been forced to tow the party line, threatened with swat teams and the loss of their livelihood. Teachers have been censured and fired for being critical of the Bush gang's brutal methods. We toss and turn in our slumber.

Homeland security. seemingly rising from the ashes of a Nazi past, was created outside of any system of checks and balances. It functions behind the scenes in the shadows, with no accountability. Again, the analogies of the Nazi past stir us to consciousness.

Our economy has been hobbled, shuffling along as a dismal vestige of it's former self. Torture has returned as a viable option for extracting confessions, encouraged by our dubious leaders. The bad dreams awaken us.

What is next we ask: prison camps for dissenters, midnight raids, the disappearances of anyone opposing our draconian masters? The answer depends on us. Will we continue to be manipulated by manufactured fear inducing media events, or will we continue to awaken from our stupor? Do we arise like the sleeping giant that crushed Hitler and his psychotic allies sixty years ago?

The signs of this awakening are all around us. Our court-appointed President's approval rating has been plummeting. Former allies have abandoned the Bush administration's quest for domination. Even Canada has turned it's back on us. Citizens are rebelling against their insulting 'consumer' status, incensed at being handled like cattle. We are turning away from the media propaganda machine and are becoming informed by alternate media in droves. The internet, alternative radio and cable, even short-wave radio is recapturing it's traditional audience. We will know the truth, the truth will keep us free, and we will not become sleepwalkers again.
